Duncan Edwards Foundation Information

DUNCAN EDWARDS FOUNDATION The foundation is the brain child of award winning producer Rose Cook, who wrote and directed “…and then came Munich” The Duncan Edwards story. The 55-minute documentary tells the life story of the world’s greatest footballer Duncan Edwards, who tragically died on the 21st February 1958 from injuries sustained in the infamous Munich aircraft, which killed 8 of the magnificent Busby Babes, the wonderfully talented young Manchester United players, who under the Management of the iconic Matt Busby were the cream of footballing talent. Duncan gave his heart and soul and ultimately his life to the team that meant so much to him - Manchester United. However, Duncan remained a true Black Country lad who never forgot his home town or its people. The aim of the foundation is to, in Duncan’s name, raise funds to support young people in the Dudley borough who have a great sporting ability, whether it is football, cricket, tennis etc but cannot afford the training, kit or travelling expenses. We want to be able to give them the funds, advise and expertise to follow their dreams and to achieve the way that Duncan did. We are proud of Duncan. As the 60th anniversary approaches, we want his name remembered in our home town. Duncan’s home town. Can you help? We are looking for sponsors, donations, ideas and advice. Together, we can help our children of the future by remembering our Son of the past. For more information please contact: Rose Cook 07701 092994 [email protected] .
