Spring 2007 Page 3 Club Chatter continued The Brampton men’s horseshoe club will be hosting a sanctioned tournament on June 2 with a start time of 9:00 AM. This coming season is our 30th Anniversary, we are inviting all Past Presidents and have asked the Mayor to open the season. We finally got the permit to build two 10’ x 16’ picnic type shelters. It has taken us 3 years to go through all the red tape. The city is helping, they will pay for the electrical work and the concrete pads, our members will pay for and construct the shelters. Hopefully they will be ready to start our season on May 1st. The East Elgin Community Complex Horseshoe Club (EECC) of Aylmer has a very successful year in 2006. We had a total of 25 Junior players show up to play, most of them beginners. Some of our Junior players took part in the Ontario Doubles with a 1st in “A” Division and 1st in “B” Division. Our younger players also took 1st in the 9 and under class. In the Ontario Singles our 9 and under players took 1st place with 26.5% average and in the Junior “B” Division our players placed 1st and 2nd. We are very proud of these young players and expect more young players to take part in the Ontario Singles and Doubles this year as well as the Canadian Championships in Woodstock. We are also starting to prepare for the 2009 Canadian Championships being held in Aylmer!! This year we are holding four sanctioned tournament days, May 12 June 2, July 7 and August 11. All of these days will be Singles at 9:30 AM and Doubles at 1 PM, with Lunch and Refreshments available. All dates will feature a Junior class as well. The entry fee for all tournaments is $10.00. For more information you can contact Keith Lindsay (519)773- 3355. Hamilton Indoor Horseshoe Pitching Club invites you to come and help us start our 2007 Indoor season with one of our “pitching Legends” at the Larry Markle Open on Saturday October 13. Our club has in addition to 6 indoor clay courts, other activities such as darts, pool tournaments, dances, turkey rolls, lobster night, cribbage, games day and more. We are located at 170 Brockley Drive, Hamilton. From the intersection of Hwy #20 (Centennial Parkway) and Barton St., go east on Barton to the 2nd stoplight (Brockley) and go left to #170 (on right side).
