The Krka River Lodge is about thirty minutes from Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, but it is a world away on the banks of the krka river, surrounded by a charming hills of Lower Carniola. It lies near the source of the Krka River, which puts us right on one of the best chalk streams in the world. Depending on arrival time, we’ll have some time to explore the river and see if any of the large browns or rainbows are biting... In order to combat jet-lag, we’ll want to keep everyone up as long as possible. We’ll have a brown bag lunch, and then adjust our location based on the conditions. Once we are done fishing, we’ll drive back to the Krka River Lodge and get cleaned up. You will have guided fishing along the willow-lined banks and meadows of the Unica River, one of Europe's best limestone streams, where the Brown Trout are massive and the Grayling present their own challenges in this dry-fly only river. We’ll have our lunch in the nearby village of Planina, then adjust our location for the afternoon’s fishing. Once we are done fishing, we’ll get cleaned up at our Lodge and then drive about thirty minutes to Slovenia’s capital city, Ljubljana, where we’ll have an evening meal at the most famous brewery in town – Pivnica Union. Your guides will help you understand the nuances of this river and set you up for what may be the best day of fishing yet. you’ll have a day of guided fishing on one of Slovenia’s most unique rivers and one of Europe's best limestone streams, where the Browns and Rainbows are massive. This mountain spa retreat is in the heart of Triglav National Park and has the alpine-style accommodations of a fully restored 1850’s farmstead, to include guest cabins, sauna, conference room, restaurant, and espresso bar. In addition to the spectacular alpine valley setting, an impressive feature of the hotel is the string of Lipizzaner horses. Ponder the immensity of human conflict from the battle positions high on the ridge above Kobarid.
