Amalgamated Mining Ltd; 1.0 - William Burton; 1.3 - Chris I Coll Surveying Ltd; 1.5 - Yvonne Davison; 16 - Department of Conservation; 20 - Eldon Mining Limited; 22 - Grey District Council; 24 - Go West Coast; 26 - Heritage New Zealand; 27 - Heritage West Coast; 41. - MOSman Oil and Gas Limited; 43 - Minerals West Coast; 47 - Inger Perkins; 50 - Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society of New Zealand inc; 57 - Te Runanga o Ng5i Tahu; 58 - GBreth Thomas; and 62 - Justin Venable. The reasons for the further submission are detailed in the below table I. Reasonable Development in reviewing the submissions lodged on the Proposed West Coast Regional Policy Statement (RPS) the Westland District Council (WDC) noted submissions that included a similar vein of support in ensuring the development and enhancement of the West Coast and that well managed activities can occur on the West Coast without adversely impacting on other opportunities. I Ltd (AML) 13 - Chris J Coll Surveying The Westland District Council (WDC) has lodged a submission on Submission No's Ltd (COLL) the Proposed Regional Policy Statement. in section I of the WDC I, 13,20,24,41, 20 - Eldon Mining Limited submission (Page 3) the WDC supports the themes and concepts in 43 & 58 (EML) the RPS that will, together with other factors, lead to the 24 - Go West Coast strengthening and revitalisation of the West Coast. Heritage in reviewing the submissions lodged on the Proposed West Coast Regional Policy Statement (RPS) the Westland District Council (WDC) noted submissions that highlighted the need to include heritage for both statutory reasons and also due to the importance of heritage on the West Coast. This is similar to the WDC submission previously lodged. GS 43,1.18,4.17, 1.5 - Yvonne Davison 4.41,4.64,4.89, 10AVIY) The WDC sought in their submission at section 3 that greater 4.127,4.1.60, 16 - Department of recognition of heritage should occur and that this should include 7.31,7.35,7.45, Conservation IDOC) the insertion of a heritage chapter in the RPS. 7.53,7,128,9.52, 26 - Heritage New Zealand 15.1,15.2,1.5.3, (HNZ) The various submissions identified have submitted that the matter 15.4,15.6 & 15.7 27 - Heritage West Coast of heritage needs to be better addressed in the RPS. This includes (HWC) recognition of the requirements of the Resource Management Act Submitters 10, 1.5, 50 - Royal Forest and Bird 1991 by some submitters and others that comment that there are 1.6,26,27,50,57, Protection Society of New significant heritage features within the Region. Wastewater & Solid Waste in reviewing the submissions lodged on the RPS the WDC noted the submission of the Grey District Council re ardin the disposal of solid waste and hazardous material. Given that the WDC provides similar functions includ' t disposal the Grey District Council submission has highlighted the need to explore this issue further. Submitter No. 22 The submission of the Grey District Council seeks that regional Iy significant infrastructure, as referred to in the RPS, should include hazardous and solid waste (refuse) collection and disposal, including recycling. The WDC also operates and manages waste transfer and disposal facilities and accordingly the same issues arise such that it is agreed that provision for such activities should be included in the RPS to reflect the needs of District Coundls in managing the recycling and disposal of waste. Accordingly the WDC submits in support of the relevant part of this submission. 4. Best Practice in reviewing the submissions lodged on the RPS the WDC has identified a submission that highli hts the need to employ best practice. This issue is similar in vein to the submission lodged by the WDC. Requested 4,113 The Westland District Council (WDC) has lodged a submission on Submitter No. 47 the Proposed Regional Policy Statement. In section 2 of the WDC 4 Further Submission - Westland District Council submission (Page 5) the fifth paragraph highlights that on the West Coast we should do things well and activities can have far different effects depending on how they are undertaken and managed. The submission of Inger Perkins includes that the RPS should support best management practices for all development and resource use. The WDC also supports this concept and suggests it should be explored further as to how such concepts could be incorporated and promoted through the RPS. 5. Natural Hazards in reviewing the submissions lodged on the RPS the WDC has identified a submission that is consistent with the WDC's opinion and suggestions, by way of submission, regarding the issue of natural hazards. The submission lodged by the Department of Conservation (Doc) is similar in vein as it both supports the current provisions and suggests improvements.
