Bob Jeffers, AKC Judge#70505 Obedience Training Club of Palm Beach County Lead Lines June 2015 A Resignation and an Appointment Good Evening, Board, Due to personal reasons, I feel that I can no longer be effective in the Treasurer’s posi- tion, and am therefore respectfully submitting my resignation, effective June 30, 2015. Liese Hookey **************************************************** Liese, I know you have had a lot on your plate and I certainly understand your position for stepping down. Being the Treasurer is an overwhelming job. Thank you for all that you've done for the club in the last six months as Treasurer as well as your service on the Board for the last five years. It was appreciated by all! Betty Officers & BOD - OTCPBC ********************************************* Effective July 1st Joan Bruno will be taking over as Treasurer. For those of you that do not know Joan she was our Treasurer for 13 years before moving to Nebraska for a short time. Nebraska was a place that Joan swore didn't get much snow, but soon learned otherwise! LOL! Welcome back to your old job! Betty Officers & Board of Directors OTCPBC 3 Obedience Training Club of Palm Beach County Lead Lines June 2015 Thank you - A little late but still heartfelt This past weekend's Obedience Trials in Ft Pierce (June 6 & 7) were something to be proud of for all involved. As a member of OTCPBC and MFDC, the two host clubs, it was wonderful to hear all of the nice comments from exhibitors and workers and to see all four of our Obedience Trials running smoothly. The exhibitors had many nice things to say about the location, the quietness of three separate show buildings, (the novice people particularly commented on appreciating having this quiet), access to a full size practice ring, ample crating room, the range of classes offered (lots of compliments on Wild Card being offered), and (of course) there were more than a few exhibitors that were thrilled to com- plete a Title in two days!!! The MFDC members that turned out to work the Trials as ring stewards and help with the trophy ta- ble all had this common observation... the Obedience people are all so very nice and the dogs clearly enjoy their work! If there's a well deserved Thank You to be said for pulling these show together and making sure they ran smoothly, it goes to Celeste for all of the hours and hours that she put into these Obedience Trails! Celeste did a fabulous job as Show Secretary & problem solving guru. None of this would have been possible without her attention to detail and planning ability. A Big Thank You to Sherry for all of her help making these Trials a success, overseeing numerous details, and keeping everyone on task... from making sure the mats and rings were laid just right, and up to the final loading of the last bits of equipment back into the trailer. More Thanks and Gratitude go to Charlotte for her organizational efforts as Chief Ring Steward - it wasn't easy! Huge Thanks and Appreciation to all of the members of OTCPBC, members of MFDC, and David's students for coming out to steward. Besides stewarding, David's students did a fabulous job singing the National Anthem each morning before the Trials began and helped with some of the clean-up / packing-up on Sunday afternoon. This was my first time Show Chairing an Obedience Trial and there's no way I could have done it without all of you! (It was also my first time vacuuming mats... wish I was as disciplined about vacu- uming my own carpets!) I'm certain there are several people I'm forgetting to thank, typing this on my iPhone from the Tampa Fairgrounds where we have shows this weekend... some of you are probably here too! Anyway, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to all that supported these shows both in person and from afar - happy exhibitors makes us all happy! Thank you, Kim Carey 4 Obedience Training Club of Palm Beach County Lead Lines June 2015 Report from the Obedience Trial, June 6 & 7, 2015. Celeste Platte – Trial Secretary Thank you to all the club members that attended and helped at the June trial at the St. Lucie County fairgrounds. The judges enjoyed themselves and we, the committee, heard quite a few positive comments about the trial. The Novice people particularly enjoyed the quieter venue in the smaller building. Fran Smith did an awesome job with the club’s raffle. She took in nearly $600 in the five hours prior to the drawing. THANK YOU Fran. Thank you to Janet Moore for getting all the water, mints, and goodies for the judges and workers. Janet was not able to attend the trial as she was enjoying herself so much with gardening and sewing, that she over did it and wound up flat on her back. We missed your Janet. Thanks for your help and making sure your husband brought all the stuff to the fairgrounds for us. Charlotte Czermann. What can I say? You came through for us again. Getting volunteers to steward and then making sure they got to their assigned locations was a monumental job. Things were not looking so good two days before the trial, but members stepped up and member David Sommer and his students came through to volunteer where they were needed. David Sommer. Thank you for bringing the students to the trial to sing the national anthem to start the trial each day for us. I heard so many compliments on their performance. Also thank you for being the Trophy Chair and putting everything together to go to the rings. Your assistance with inputting the scores was invaluable. It enabled me to get the tear sheets up quickly for the exhibitors to view. Thank you Sherry Cooper, Chair for OTC and Kim Carey, Chair for MFDC. I know you two were making your rounds to the rings and buildings checking if anything needed to be taken care. I was somewhat disappointed that more of our members did not enter and support the trial. I know a lot of you have gotten titles at the Club’s Novice only trials, but continued practice with your dog makes you and him/her better exhib- itors. There is a saying; when you get your Open title, you have a good Novice dog and when you get your Utility title, you have a good Open dog.
