Our foundational aim has been strengthened with this Foundation: we keep on working to improve the life quality of people with intellectual disabilities and their families and at the same time the heritage can be better protected. We had the command that the Assembly set up in 2008 to create three foun- dations: the Tutelary Foundation l’Esguard, to take care of the tutelages; the Tac Osona Private Foundation, to manage our social enterprise; and the Sant Tomàs Foundation to manage both the educational and care areas. The first two foundations have been working since 2010 and 2012 respectively. The process to create the third one started in 2016 by the Board of Directors. We thought it would be appropriate to bring this issue back to debate on the Assembly last June and there the consensus agreement to create the Foundation was reached at the same time of the will to maintain the Association working. After having the statutes written in December, we have been able to legally crea- te the Foundation which is going to start its path throughout 2017. In October 2016, the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya began to work on the rehabilitation of the historic monumental buildings that gives name to our entity, the monastery of Sant Tomàs of Riudeperes. The works will continue until autumn 2017 and once they are finished we will have to define what the main uses will be. The Generalitat has also begun with the steps to declare it a National Cultural Interest Heritage. We are very pleased with this heritage as it adds a great value to our entity. We are planning on opening it to the public so that it can be discovered and admired. Finally, we must point out that in December 2016 we started the celebrations for our 50th anniversary, which will be extended throughout 2017. This is a very im- portant milestone because it means we have been working for inclusion for half a century. Sant Tomàs is a collective achievement for which we must congratula- te: users, families, professionals, institutions, volunteers and the whole society from the region of Osona who has always supported us. We have started 2017 with energy to continue working and with great enthusi- asm to commemorate these 50 years of history. We invite you to join us so that we can enjoy it all together! For many more years to come!
