The first issue concerned physical and mental health. Presentations covered such topics as: counseling college students concerning their attitudes and beliefs about HIV/AIDS; United States health care reform and how it affects people with disabilities; the psychological impact of chronic illness; and understanding clients' cultural values. The second issue of the symposium concerned issues of physical, emotional, and substance abuse. Presentations included: family abuse in Japan; sexual abuse, alcohol, and women survivors; drug abuse; healing the wounds of child abuse; drug use by U.S. high school students; addiction treatment alternatives; and human development theory in substance abuse counseling. All conference presentations are included. The 36 papers include: (1) "College Students' knowledge, Attitudes and Beliefs Regarding HIV/AIDS: A Five County Study"(L. Gray and R. House); (2) "A Whole School Approach to Guidance in Schools in Hong Kong"(B. Yau); and (3)"Drug Use by U.S. High School Students: How It Can Be Reduced"(D. Coy).
