Setups & Configurations @DELLCARESPRO COMMERCIAL SOCIAL MEDIA TECHNICAL SUPPORT WEBINARS Video Graphics Array (VGA) Display Port (DP) Know your Ports Thunderbolt (TB) Digital Video Interface (DVI) Display Port (DP) has the capability to provide a scalable digital display interface with optional audio and high-definition content protection Thunderbolt (TB) (HDCP). High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) provides the same quality of video signal as DVI. However HDMI can provide an audio signal through the same cable (when supported by the Video Card). High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) Digital Video Interface (DVI) connections provide a higher quality signal than VGA cables. Video Graphics Array (VGA) is the analog standard for connecting monitors to computers. A VGA cable should be used if for basic analog connections. @DELLCARESPRO COMMERCIAL SOCIAL MEDIA TECHNICAL SUPPORT WEBINARS Monitor Input Connections What Video Ports Can Be Adapted Your system and your monitors don’t always have to have matching in/outputs. Adapters are commonly used to convert video signals through various ports. Note: Adapters can also be a key point of failure when troubleshooting display issues. When at all System Output System possible we would recommend stripping a configuration to its minimum (removing adapters to troubleshoot). @DELLCARESPRO COMMERCIAL SOCIAL MEDIA TECHNICAL SUPPORT WEBINARS Example DisplayPort configuration with Dell U2415 Displays Daisy Chaining Multi-Stream Transport (MST) Either using Display Port (DP) 1.2, or Thunderbolt 3 connectivity we can now utilize MST to push video signals through a chained display connection. When connecting via DP remember the first monitor in the chain will require DP1.2 capabilities / enabled in the OSD and both the DP (in) and DP (out) ports to be utilized. The second display will require DP1.2 to be disabled. Power DP(In) Power DP(In) Thunderbolt 3 can support two monitors on 4K at 60Hz. DP(Out) @DELLCARESPRO COMMERCIAL SOCIAL MEDIA TECHNICAL SUPPORT WEBINARS How to Setup Windows 10 Settings After you connect the monitors to your Dell computer, you can select the Display Style that best suits your needs.
