General information 1.1 Ice-breaking service The Government Ice-breaking service is managed by the Swedish Maritime Administration. The functions of ICE INFO and the Local Office of the Government Ice-breaking Service are, within the operating district, to obtain and pass information, requests and instructions concer-ning the ice-breaking service between the Board of the Service, interesting parties and perform any task imposed by the Board of the Ice-breaking Service. The state icebreakers are the ODEN, YMER, FREJ, ATLE and ALE. In addtion also the AHTS vessel THETIS acts as a state icebreaker when needed. The buoytender-vessel BALTICA and SCANDICA, other suitable vessels and municipal and private tugboats are chartered when necessary.
