Our 6 ⁄2 -week, Summer Study at Penn State Program offers students completing 10th, 11th or 12th grade the unique opportunity to earn COLLEGE CREDITS as well as experience college life in a relaxed summertime atmosphere prior to entering college. With the “pressure off,” summer academic life permits time for successful development, personal growth and maturation, study skills, time management, self-confidence, community living and independence. Our 6-week “Triple Play” Program brings a unique blend of academics, internships and community service all rolled into one fantastic program. Students completing 9th, 10th or 11th grade will choose 1 intensive workshop for 2 weeks, get real-life work experience through a hands-on internship for 2 weeks, and give back to the community with 2 weeks of service. The Triple Play is sure to be a winner! 1 Our 3 ⁄2 -week, Summer Enrichment at Penn State Program and 2-week, Intensive Workshop Programs offer students completing 9th, 10th or 11th grade the ability to experience the “beat and pulse” of an up and run- ning university before they actually attend a matriculated university. This “head start” on college life per- mits each student an easy transition from high school to college. Students attend enrichment style classes where a heavy emphasis is placed on group interaction and discussion based topics. Our Middle School program offers students currently completing 8th grade the opportunity to learn in an environment where our directors, administrators, and staff work with all students on a personal level, ensuring the finest care, supervision and mutual respect. Learning this summer is easy in our 4-week or 2-week Middle School Programs. Class categories range from intellectual and creative pursuits (The Smarts and The Arts) to atypical classroom subjects (Physical Ways and Lazy Days). In the classroom, on the stage, on the dance floor, on the courts and on the ball fields, Summer Study students are engaged in activities all day. Our goal is for students to learn, both in and out of the classroom, to adjust to community-style living, and to set their sights on SUCCESS! Academic programs are NOT all the same. All of our pre-college programs offer Kaplan SAT Preparation (pg. 16), Special Features (pg. 9), and exciting enrichment classes (pg. 16-18). The summer calendar is packed with nightly events in the Ultimate College Town: shows, live concerts, dance clubs, ice skating, movies, broomball, skit night, water sports night, Minute to Win It, SSP Fashion Show, casino night, Summer Study Idol, go-karts, our farewell banquet and more. Creatively planned daytime events and activities revolve around the interests of students in the program: sports clinics, tournaments and pick up games, discussion groups, jewelry making, tie dying, poets corner, special events and more! All in all, these years are the most important and the most impressionable years of adolescent life. The security and confidence gained through our programs will prove to be invaluable for success throughout high school and the college years. There IS a difference in programs!!! We are proud that more high school students choose a summer program at PENN STATE UNIVERSITY than any other college campus. We invite you to ask previous participants why!
