Coming off of their sold-out concert at the Toronto Chinese Modern Art Academy, Spire looks to break convention and inspire listeners through their originality. ANNA BELLA Ashton Smith - Backup Dancer Hailing all the way from Kyoto, Japan, Anna Bella is a 19-year old singer and dancer who spent her first year in Toronto as a university Drama student. As a child, she has garnered extensive experience in dancing and live singing, enabling her to develop a musical maturity exceeding beyond her years. Known for her strong yet sultry voice, she is determined to prove that artistry does not discriminate and that her small stature is not to be taken lightly. Alongside her backup dancer Ashton, with whom she’s very close, the pair will be gracing the Kollaboration Toronto stage with their first major performance. BOSS DANCE COMPANY Under the artistic direction of Leah Totten, BOSS is a professional collective of elite female dancers training in various, urban dance styles. Acting as a sisterhood to all its dancers, BOSS is dedicated to instill a strong work ethic and a drive for success to young women, especially those who are pressured to comply with certain norms perpetuated by media and society. Having snagged an impressive third-place finish at the 2013 Beatdown Competition and winning first place in 2012, BOSS seeks to take the Kollaboration stage by storm with their hard-hitting choreography and fierce charisma. PLAITWRIGHTS AND CHARLESTON RELAY This Filipino duo emerged swiftly in the Toronto music scene and is notably recognized as Plaitwrights. With the sweet, indie voice of Angela Abrenica and the skills of Xylk Lorena as an MC, the two deliver an eclectic sound that can be heard in their newly released EP, CMYK. Together with their eccentric band, Charleston Relay, they have jammed on some of the largest stages in Toronto including Youth Waves '12 & '13, UNITY Festival, and UNPLUGGED Festival. Foreseeing imminent plans to perform in countries abroad, they hope to represent Toronto the best way possible with their craft and integrity. Charleston Relay consists of Matthew Jokhu (keyboardist), Peter Eratostene (bassist), Edrik Barrozo (guitarist), and Alonzo Moore (drummer). TINA HUNG Tina Hung is a Toronto-born, Mississauga-based singer/song-writer who began her musical journey at a very young age. Inspired heavily by the renowned Celine Dion, Hung shares a similar gift in capturing her audiences through the passion embedded in her powerful vocals. After attending university and working in corporate at one of the Big Four, Hung took a leap of faith to explore the world of music with a single goal in mind: to tap into the recesses of people’s hearts, where music sees no bounds and speaks for the everyday soul. KEVIN WONG Kevin Wong was first exposed to music at the age of three when his mother dragged him out of the house, ignoring his kicking and screaming, down a Montessori hallway to his first violin lesson. With a diverse blend of pop, soul, jazz, and rock, Wong's music often mirrors his own experiences – both as an Asian Canadian in a fairly diverse community and as a young man coming out following the reform of marriage equality in Canada. His later work is a tribute to his personal experiences with love, loss, and observations of different communities. His songs and albums have been featured on OutRadio, Feast of Fools, Unashamed Faith Cafe, Queer Music Heritage, This Way Out, Bear Radio Network and Proud FM showcase during Canadian Music Week. ANTO CHAN – HOST A born performer in English, French and Cantonese, Anto is a stand-up comedian, poet and storyteller, emceeing at various events that range from weddings, children's events, and charity fundraisers to corporate functions and open mics. With prior appearances on CBC Radio and Omni TV, his viral stand-up comedy video, featuring the Cantonese word "GOW,” landed on the front page of Reddit this year and amassed over 250,000 hits. He recently returned from a cross-Canada comedy tour, "The Sleeping in our Car Tour," in which he, Evan Desmarais and Michael Flamank independently booked and performed, hoping to inspire other performers to create their own opportunities when ready. He will also be competing in Montreal's Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in November with the Bill Brown Slam team. His biggest passion is to facilitate avenues through which people can express themselves artistically and help build their confidence in return. He cannot wait to connect to the Asian community with Kollaboration and partake in the movement of talented performers who truly deserve their spotlight! JEE YUN LEE – JUDGE Remote Host/Anchor Jee Yun Lee is a remote host/anchor for CP24 and is an acclaimed journalist, best known for her work as a consumer specialist in Toronto. Born in South Korea, Jee immigrated to Canada with her fam- ily when she was a year old and eventually attended the Uni- versity of Toronto for History and Politics. Jee credits her internship with CTV's The Dini Petty Show as the catalyst that helped steer the direction of her career.
