The METRO D Line Faster transit is coming to the Route 5 corridor. The METRO D Line is a planned bus rapid transit line that Brooklyn Center will provide faster and more reliable transit service in the Transit Center Xerxes & 56th Ave BROOKLYN Route 5 corridor. Bus rapid transit is a package of transit CENTER enhancements that adds up to a faster trip and an improved Brooklyn & 51st Ave experience on Metro Transit’s busiest bus routes. Fremont 44th Ave & Penn 44th Ave & Girard Route 5 is the Twin Cities’ busiest bus route, carrying about Fremont & 42nd Ave 16,000 customers each weekday. During rush hours, Route Fremont & Dowling Fremont & 35th Ave 5 buses make up less than 2 percent of vehicle traffic but Emerson carry more than 20 percent of people traveling through Fremont/Emerson & Lowry the corridor. Fremont/Emerson & 26th Ave Fremont/Emerson & Broadway Fremont/Emerson & Plymouth How will the D Line be faster? 7th St & Bryant C Line 7th St & Olson-5th Ave Olson Memorial Highway The D Line will substantially replace Route 5 service between Brooklyn Center, Minneapolis, Richfield, and MINNEAPOLIS Bloomington. The goal of the D Line is to make service Ramp A/7th St Transit Center 8th/7th St & Hennepin approximately 20 percent faster by stopping less often, 8th/7th St & Nicollet 8th/7th St & 3rd Ave allowing customers to board faster, and stopping at fewer 8th/7th St & Park 7th St 8th St red lights. Chicago & 14th St Chicago & Franklin Chicago & 24th St Instead of stopping every block, buses will make limited Chicago & 26th St stops at stations spaced farther apart. Fares will be collected Chicago-Lake Transit Center B Line at stations — just like light rail — and not on the bus. Raised Chicago & 34th St METRO D Line MINNEAPOLIS curbs at platforms will make it easier to step onto the bus.
