Our very faith calls us to do so. Jesus Christ died that we may have life and we live our lives attempting to demonstrate our gratitude. No matter what the situation may have been, it is always refreshing to reflect back and see how God’s plan unfolded for the greater good. I was not a product of Catholic education, but my Mom was, and she instilled in us the same faith values that she received in her parochial school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The gift of my faith that she helped form is one that grows every year and I am forever thankful. I often look back and think about how blessed I have been, even though I did not attend Catholic school as a student, that I have gotten the opportunity to participate for the last 24 years as a teacher. There are not many people who get to go to work every day and tell their stories about how God works in their life and teach science, too! I count my blessings. I am thankful for all the parents at Blanchet Catholic School that graciously give all of us the opportunity to live out our vocations daily. They have entrusted us with their most precious gift, their children, who constantly inspire us, encourage us and challenge us to be the people God has intended us to be. We are blessed. This year I am especially grateful for the opportunity to launch a new service club for the middle school called G.O.S.P.E.L. (Go Out Spreading Peace, Encouraging Love). This club will set its efforts on creating a relationship between The Lancaster Village residents and our middle school. We are working on an “Adopt a Grandparent Project,” a Thanksgiving celebration and a Christmas craft project, but our biggest priority is to form lasting relationships for both the residents and our students. We recently won The Schnitzer Spirit of Unity Award. This award is given out by the Wholistic Peace Institute, who has granted us $500 to get our plan up and running. Both the residents and the students are really excited to get started. Again, we are blessed. As I step back and look at the bigger picture, I am forever reminded that it would not be possible without the love of the Father. The Father that gave us His only Son, that we may have life and have it to the fullest. The Son that gave thanks- eucharisteo. We too, need to follow His example. May this Thanksgiving Day and every day find you truly blessed. - Gail Armstrong, Science & Religion Teacher “...in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 7 StudentsAwards & Honors Blanchet Catholic School is extremely blessed to points for their school towards the Oregonian have students who live each day with “Courage and Cup standings.
