Mr. Rodney Smith, Dean of the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, who gave the citation on this occasion, referred to the phenomenal success Sir Isaac had achieved in his business affairs and to his many benefactions to educational, health and medical research projects, including large dona- tions to this College for the rebuilding, furnishing and equipping of the new Hunterian Museum, and for the endowment of Research Lecture- ships in Physics and in Surgical Biochemistry. The Dean also referred to the profound influence Sir Isaac's father, Solomon Wolfson, had had Fig. 1. Sir Isaac Wolfson being applauded after his admission to the Honorary Fellowship of the College. The fact that the father's name was included in many of Sir Isaac's later benefactions showed that the son appreciated his father's influence in his upbringing.
