Grand Teton National Park is one of the most striking landscapes in the US. The jagged granite mountain Day Hike - tops of the central tetons rise more than 7,000 feet above the rolling buttes and open plains Grand Teton National of the Snake River valley. On their day hike, the group will circumnavigate a postglacial lake at Park the base of the Tetons and venture up into the mountain canyons. It will be a taste of what is to come. The Teton Wilderness lies just east of Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. The area is known for its solitude, rolling hills, freshwater lakes, lodgepole pine forests, and a Backpack - myriad of wildflowers and wildlife. The group will spend seven days hiking along creek drainag- Teton Wilderness es, past cowboy camps, and over mountain passes as they make their way towards Yellowstone National Park. After crossing the national park boundary into Yellowstone, the group will make their way through what is arguably the most remote section of any national park in the lower 48 states. Backpack - The beauty of the area will be breathtaking. They will hike through wetlands, camp along the Yellowstone National Yellowstone River, and finally reach the banks of Yellowstone Lake. Their Wilderness Adven- Park tures sea kayaking specialist will be waiting for them to begin the next section of this backcoun- try adventure. On their eleventh day in the backcountry, the group will recieve a much needed ressuply of food and clean socks from a motorboat crew. This resupply will also include a fleet of kayaks Sea Kayak - that will provide a new mode of travel for the group. Over the next six days, they will wind their Yellowstone Lake way west accross the southern part of Yellowstone Lake. They will rise early, paddle on flat water and under clear skies, and then hunker down at campsites for games and campfires in the evenings. After having spent fifteen straight days in the backcountry, even the small town of Jackson Hole will be a culture shock for the group! The students will celebrate their immense accomplish- Whitewater Raft - ments with the rowdiest section of waves and whitewater that the Snake River has to offer. After Snake River splashing through this renowned apline canyon on inflatable rafts, everyone will head into town for their final banquet. .
