I'm down with "The House That Heaven Built" as year-end number 1. It's this year's "Queen of Hearts" (my #2 of 2011)--an ambitious, wide- open, perfectly executed rock anthem. When those tracks come along, they should be rewarded. I'm surprised all the Tame Impala acclaim has gone to "Elephant" so far. I thought "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" was the consensus favorite from Lonerism, or at least the tracks would have similar acclaim. On the mainstream pop songs front, I'm totally down with a high ranking for "Call Me Maybe", but that T Swift song has no business being in the top 20. But I have a feeling this entire list will change quite a bit, as very few publications have revealed their songs lists yet.
