Right-hander Carter Capps (L, 1-1) was hammered for seven runs over 3.1 innings, four coming in the first inning. The Clinton ace gave up five runs but just one earned over 5.2 innings and struck out nine, dropping his ERA to 2.80…that’s Innings: Anthony Fernandez (125.1) fifth-best in the MWL. Since returning from a seven-start stint in High Desert (1-1, 7.39), Fernandez is 6-2 ERA: Anthony Fernandez (2.80) with a 2.07 ERA (22 ER in 95.2 IP) and 10 quality starts in his last 14 outings with the Kings. Quality Starts: Anthony Fernandez (10) Strikeouts: Taijuan Walker (113) “Mor” is Better: Julio Morban extended his hitting streak to six games Wednesday night, going 1-or-4 Holds: Ryan Kiel (6) with two runs scored…Morban is batting .333 (8-for-24) with a double, seven runs scored and two RBI on the Saves: Tyler Burgoon (14) streak, the longest active on the club. Slammin’ Sammy: Kalian Sams extended his RBI streak to three-straight games last night with two RBI on his third triple of the season…he finished 1-for-4. Sams has driven in six runs on the span, including three on his team-leading 17 th HR on Monday against Beloit (off RHP A.J. Achter). The 17 th blast was Sams’ career-best 23 rd HR this year (6 came with high-A High Desert). The South Holland, Netherlands native has 68 career home runs including 37 in the Midwest League (4 with Wisconsin, 33 with Clinton). Romero is Rolling: Stefen Romero went 1-for-4 with a run scored last night, giving him a hit in 42 of his last 50 games since the end of June …he’s hitting .315 (79-for- 251) with 13 HR and 48 RBI in that span. Romero hit in 10-straight games from 8/14 to 8/24, hitting .410 (16-for-39) with five doubles, a triple, HR, 12 runs scored and nine RBI…it was his longest streak since hitting in 13-straight from 7/25 to 8/8 (the longest streak by a LumberKing this season).
