TEACHER IN ROLE TO AUGMENT THE LEARNING OF HISTORY LESSONS SUMATHI MANIAM UNIVERSITI PENDIDIKAN SULTAN IDRIS, MALAYSIA [email protected] ABSTRACT In schools, ‘role play’ is exceptionally used by teachers to expedite teaching and learning. Distinctly, ‘teacher in role’, a form of theatre game is scarcely used by teachers although it is an invaluable technique for shaping the dramatic process and developing students’ learning. As such a research based on prospect of ‘teacher in role’ being a ‘teaching tool’ was conducted in a primary school in Kuala Lumpur. In this method, the teacher joins the pupils and plays a role in the drama as part of the teaching process. The teacher has to choose a piece of costume or a prop to signify that they are in the role to distinguish their role as a teacher and that of the character and he/she manages the learning opportunities from within the drama. ‘Teacher In Role’ is in line with Education 4.0 as it uses holistic teaching method designed to integrate critical thinking, analysis of emotion and the expansion of the learning experience and make it more relevant to everyday life situations. The research was conducted using a qualitative method ( observation, interview, and questionaires) in analysing the effects of History lesson via Teacher in Role. The outcome of the research was that pupils learnt the importance of history lessons in a more relaxed and fun manner. The data collected showed that pupils were stimulated to learn when their teacher joined them in acting out roles. Pupils auditory and psycomotor ability was enhanced through the ‘teacher in role’ method. This is because components of scenography puts together elements of visual design and creative ideas in ABSTRACT, realistic and experimental forms based on the concepts and themes of the manuscripts that will be staged. The study therefore demonstrates the role of scenography in producing a theater production at the Malaysian Art School of Johor which is effective with the application of teaching and learning patterns that focus on building creative and innovative thinking skills through exploration activities to enhance the ability to create and produce quality ideas. The outcome of this research brings to light the importance of scenography exploration amongst students and educators being exposed at an early stage about the knowledge of the arts, basic principles in design and technical skills in the theatrical production. The Malaysian Indie Identity Theater study in Malay Drama Stage Development is carried out to bring professionals, academics, practitioners and students from across the country to jointly foster the potential of participants in the creative industry. Indie Theater is a new theater genre that is evolving in the Malay drama stage. This has indirectly opened a new perspective on the concept of form and content in indie theater performances. Hence, this study is to find out the form of indie theater production that is able to attract the audience? The research was able to achieve two objectives, namely to describe the form of Malaysian Indie theater in the development of the Malay drama and to analyze the identity and contents of the Malaysian Indie theater. The researcher conducted the study by interviewing four informants who are activists and academics in the theater field. Subsequently, after analyzing the data, the researcher unraveled the form and content with the Identity theory guide to build the identity of the Indie theater production. The implication of this study is very important as it will guide the knowledge and opportunities to build new innovations in theater field, add more references to the development of the postmodern Malay drama stage and can enhance the creative industry especially Indie theater production in line with producing brilliant art practitioners on the basis of the creative industry of the country. The study was conducted in Dairi regency. The data collection technique in this study is the study of literature by gathering various information through the internet, which is further examined by conducting interviews with the subjects of the Pakpak traditional leaders. The findings of the research are 4 (four) Pakpak ethnic values that are relevant to leadership, namely: a) the value of knowledge; where Pakpak ethnic leaders are someone who must have self-knowledge by having an attitude of introspection, not harming others, being responsible, honest, easy to adapt and become a motivator, and able to build commitment to achieving goals, b) religious values; on this dimension, a leader is required to rely on God in every action, c) Social Value; In this dimension an ethnic leader is formed in an organizational structure called Sulang Silima, and d) Physical Values; In this dimension a leader has a standard of worthiness, has a strong and healthy physique. This research is an ex-post facto research with quantitative approach. The subject of this research grade IV with a sample of 37 students. Sampling techniques using a sample of the total. Research data collection method using question form to thematic learning motivation scale and integrative learning students. Data analysis techniques using simple regression with the help of SPSS program 20. The results showed that: (1) influence of thematic learning integrative in class IV Elementary Private HKBP Pematangsiantar 2016/2017 school year amounted to 62.7% are high and on the category of 37.3% are in medium category; (2) the level of motivation of learning at the high percentage of category of 64.4% and on the category currently amounted to 35.6%; (3) the influence of learning motivation towards integrative thematic Learning students amounted to 22.9%. This can be shown from the value R Square of 0.229, i.e. there is the influence of the implementation of thematic learning K-13 against integrative motivation learn grade IV Elementary Private HKBP Pematangsiantar Keywords : Integrative Thematic Learning, K-13, Motivation to Learn. 5 IMPLEMENTATION OF SCHOOL-BASED MANAGEMENT IN IMPROVING TEACHERS POTENTIAL IN SMP-IT NURUL ITMI MEDAN ESTATE AZHAR AZIZ UNIVERSITAS NEGERI MEDAN, INDONESIA [email protected] ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to find out how the implementation of the school-based management model in the Nurul Ilmi Medan Middle School was carried out. This research was conducted at Nurul Ilmi Medan Middle School Academic Year 2018/2019. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Sources of research data are Principals, teachers, and SMP-IT staff at Nurul ITMI Medan Estate. While secondary data includes documents about student affairs, labor, facilities and infrastructure, school achievements and so on. The method of collecting data in this study through observation, interviews, and documentaries. The results showed that: a) the implementation of SBM in SMP-IT Nurul ITMI Medan Estate was effective because the results obtained from the implementation of SBM could support the achievement of school programs, b) empowerment of prospective teachers in SMP-IT Nurul ITMI Medan Estate focused on prospective teachers in management curriculum; effective learning management; in employment and student affairs; in financial management; and potential teachers in facilities and infrastructure. While the supporting factors for the implementation of school- based management are the government, teachers and students. While the inhibiting factors are the role of the community that has not been maximized and the limitations of school funds.
