Here’s a little more about our instructors: Doug Leigh (trainer of Brian Orser, Elvis Stojko, Takeshi Honda, Ben Ferreira) is the founder/director of the Mariposa School of Skating located in Barrie, Ontario. He is clearly recognized as Canada’s premier figure skating coach and internationally recognized a leader in the field. As a skating authority he operates numerous coach/skater seminars around the world. He has coached at 25 World Championships and 6 Olympic Games. He has coached over 50 Canadian National Medalists and coached skaters to over 150 national and international medals. Michelle Leigh (trainer of Jennifer Robinson, Jeff Langdon, Elvis Stojko, Takeshi Honda (JPN), Steven Cousins (GBR), and several other European international competitiors) is a coach at the Mariposa School of Skating located in Barrie, Ontario. In addition to her impressive list of skaters, she is a highly sought after coach participating in numerous coach/skater seminars around the world. She has coached at 14 World Championships, 3 Olympic Games and 20 Canadian Nationals. She has also coached skaters at 55 international events including 4 European Championships. Michelle brings with her an extensive knowledge of the New Judging System including values, levels, components, and strategies.
