ASEAN HERITAGE PARKS AND SMALL GRANTS PROGRAMME INDONESIA ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity • An international intergovernmental regional center of ASEAN • created by the 10 ASEAN Member States through an Establishment Agreement (supported by ratification of the governments) ACB Programme Areas A protected area of high conservation importance preserving in total a complete spectrum of representative ecosystems of the ASEAN Region. A flagship programme of the ASEAN that manages a regional network of representative protected areas created to generate greater collaboration between ASEAN Member States in preserving their shared natural heritage AHPs • ASEAN Heritage Parks (AHPs) are selected protected areas in the ASEAN region which are known for their unique biodiversity and ecosystems, wilderness and outstanding values. • AHPs were given the highest recognition because of their importance as conservation areas • As of 2018, a total of 44 ASEAN Heritage Parks had been established, the distribution is as follows: Brunei Darussalam - 1; Cambodia - 2; Indonesia - 7; Lao PDR - 1; Malaysia - 3; Myanmar - 7; Philippines - 9; Singapore - 2; Thailand - 4; and Viet Nam - 8.
