Parco-De Castro omeone asked me why I was invited to accept the posthu- S mous lifetime achievement award (Parangal Hagbong) to be given to Fr. Fidel Villarroel, O.P. by The Varsitarian. Actually, that was the very same question I asked when the information was conveyed to me. Much as I am so thankful for it, I also believe it was more than the strong recommendation of a very good friend that had put me in that place. Is it not perhaps owing to being privileged to know him, his work, his values, his perspective, within the period of thirty-eight (38) years (starting from my student years) with almost two decades of those spent in the course of research and writing? Humbled as I was, I accepted that honor as well as this chance to share the joy of knowing Rev.
