Follow as we look back to the mission and see if you can discover the enigma. About the Filmmaker: Jason Shumway Jason Shumway has been making movies since the young age of 14. After getting his first taste of video editing at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, Jason became an award winning filmmaker while studying in J. Everett Light Radio/Television program. For college Jason was lucky enough to be accepted to the prestigious University of Southern California. In this top rated film program Jason directed eight films and crew on many more. He has recently worked on shows for G4TV and NBC. Currently he is a staff editor at E! Entertainment Television. Jason is producing the indie Feature Film “Bloomington” due out next year. Matt Shumway Matt graduated with distinction from Art Center College of Design. There he created his award winning film “Over the Moon.” That film led him to Rhythm and Hues Studios where he works as an Animation Supervisor. His feature film credits include X2, Garfield 1 & 2, Chronicles of Narnia, A Night at the Museum, The Golden Compass, The Incredible Hulk, and Land of the Lost. Matt was nominated for and Annie Award in 2006 for his work on Aslan for Narnia. He is currently the Animation Supervisor for Cabin in the Woods, A Drew Goddard / Joss Whedon Film due out Feb 5th 2010. Nickel Children (USA) - Indie Film Director: Kevin Eslinger Running time: 16:00 minutes Website/contact: http://nickelchildren.eslingerfilm.com/ It is the late 19th Century, but not as you might have heard of it. In dust bowl Kansas, a young boy, Jack, witnesses his parent’s murder, and is then abducted and forced into an underground child fighting ring. Only the wealthiest are invited to attend these secret communities and bet on the chil- dren for their own amusement. However, one among them, an airship captain, is determined to find her own abducted son, whatever the cost. After the little dragon is taken from her vio- lently, she undertakes a long journey that leads her to a dramatic confrontation. His invention is supposed to change the world. He forgot about one thing: dreams always cost too much. He is focused only on himself and his work and realizes the gravity of the situation only when it is too late. About the Filmmaker: Tomek Bagiński (born 1976). Director, animation producer. He is a self-taught artist. He left architecture studies to make films. His first student film Rain won several local awards in 1998 and became an entry pass to Platige Image studio, where he currently works as an Art Director. From 1999 to 2002 he worked, with short intervals, on his important debut short filmThe Cathedral. The film won the first prize for Best Animated Short at the largest animation and special effects festival SIGGRAPH in 2002 and it was nominated a year later for an Academy Award in the category Short Film (Animated). In 2004 he completed his second short animated film entitled FallenArt. He won the Jury prize at SIGGRAPH festival in 2005 and became the first person in the history of the festival to have won both main prizes. The confirmation of the success of both The Cathedral and Fallen Art are numerous awards and the films’ screenings at tens of international festivals. He received BAFTA Film Award for Best Short Animation. He completed his latest film The Kinematograph in 2009. He currently prepares the realization of his first feature-length film Hardkor 44. This film is a dream sequence which exam- During the dustbowl era on a dilapidated farm, a lonely ten-year-old boy begins hearing strange noises above his bedroom ceiling at night. The noises ines the psychological aspects of Selina Kyle’s Catwoman persona, as it pertains to Carl Jung’s writings concerning the Anima, the unconscious and grow threatening as the thing in the attic becomes restless and hungry. Through a friendship with a visually impaired girl, he comes to understand that unbridled female psyche. Darin spent ten years at New Line Cinema working in post production on a myriad of feature films About the Filmmaker: including THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy. He recently went back to school to complete his MFA in film production from Loyola Marymount Barbara Mones is a faculty member in the department of Computer Science & Engineering and serves as Director for Animation Production in the University where he directed six films and produced several more for his peers. Most recently, he co-produced HAUNTED PLANET and wrote and Animation Research Labs, an Advanced Technology Initiative at the University of Washington. She has worked in both academic and industry in the directed UP UNDER THE ROOF, two 35mm films based on classic short stories. The latter film won the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Editor areas of graphics and animation production for over twenty-five years. In her role as faculty she has directed and produced eleven animated shorts awards at LMU’s first look festival: Film Outside the Frame 2009. Darin is currently developing a feature with his long-time collaborator, Danielle since 1999. She has lectured extensively on an international level on topics related to computer graphics, animation and curriculum development in Stallings. addition to designing and executing her own graphics and animation that have been shown in many museums and institutions worldwide, including the Smithsonian Institution and the Villa Ciani Museum in Switzerland.
