NOTES ON TODAY’S MUSIC Prelude: “All Glory Be to God on High” F.W. Zachau (1663-1712) was a German Baroque composer who served as Handel’s first music teacher. The chorale prelude sets the familiar German hymn tune: Allein Gott in der Höh’ sei Ehr. Postlude: “God of Grace and God of Glory” arr. Paul Manz (1919-2009) was a renowned American organist, conductor, and composer best known for his improvisations and hymn festivals. He states the Welsh hymn tune CWM RHONDDA on a bold solo trumpet, surrounded by a recurring ritornello. Offertory: “Come, Christians, Join to Sing” arr. Gary Guth. We are grateful to Ezra Melchor for sharing his musical gifts with us this morning. This joyful hymn will be played on the bagpipes with organ accompaniment. Communion: “O sacrum convivium” Roberto Remondi (1851-1928) studied music in Milan and Paris before accepting the position as organist at the Milan Cathedral. The eucharistic anthem was first published in the Secunda anthologia vocalis in 1903.
