I look out of my kitchen window across the road from me and see such a pretty sight, primroses, cowslips, bluebells and pansies, along with others I can’t name. I do hope you are all considering opening your gardens to visitors on Sunday 17th July. I’m really looking forward to touring the villages looking at all the different gardens, large, small or even potted ones. Reading the advice this month from Kingsdown Garden Society, I realise that I am guilty of committing a cardinal sin. I've planted out all my tender little plants out already! I have been surprised how many of you have asked after my health. Well, after the minor blip I experienced a short while ago. I am pleased to say I am now fully recovered. The worst part of it was that I couldn’t drive for a month. What a wonderful boost to funds the Friends of Kingsdown Play Park have received, with the news of being awarded £10K from the National Lottery ‘Awards for All’. A good start for them. All the best till next month Doreen CHRISTIAN AID WEEK this year runs from Sunday 15th May to Saturday 21st May. Please give again as generously as you can to this most worthy of charities, attempting to alleviate the lives of the desperately poor and responding to the many terrible crises around the world. Look out for the Christian Aid envelope through your door during the Week – last year Kingsdown residents contributed the magnificent total of over £900; can we do even better this year? If you would like to be one of our small band of collectors, do contact one of us, Alan or Christine Smith, on 361 452. Editor:- Doreen Clark, Popinjay, 2 Balmoral Road, Kingsdown.
