This national monument dates back to 1881 and offers stunning panoramic views of the Little and Great Karoo which you can overlook over 200km with your bare eyes. From the summit guests are able to take a walk in the reserve between 500 different species of fauna and flora. There are several photo opportunities along this winding route which will leave you at awe. After the hike there’s an opportunity to add downhill mountain biking to get the adrenalin pumping. (Additional costs apply.) After the tour enjoy Traditional Karoo Cuisine at Kobus se Gat Restaurant. Feast on certified Karoo lamb chops, boerewors, ostrich kebabs, pumpkin fritters and variety of salads and vegetables all freshly harvested from the gardens at the restaurant. Freshly baked Roosterkoek served with homemade marmalades forms part of the meal. Roosterkoek (in Afrikaans – Askoekkie) is a traditional bread prepared on the coals. After swimming and relaxing at the waterfall we travel along Meiringspoort, a spectacular drive following the course of a river through soaring cliff walls and magnificent rock formations. We travel to Prince Albert where we stop for an ½ hour coffee break. The peace and tranquillity of this little town at the foot of the Swartberg will calm you. From here we continue over the Historic Swartberg Pass with high peaks reaching over 2000 meters. The Swartberg pass is a UNESCO World heritage site known as one of the most spectacular passes in the world!
