Withcontinuedsupportfromstates,institutionsandscholars,weareproudtoreachthe 20-year mark this year.roughthisgenerationofsuccess,theprogramhasachievedmanymilestones:Ithasservedmorethan 1,140scholarsand,mostimportant,hasgraduatedalmost700Ph.D.s—80percentofwhomareemployed ineducation.ButtheU.S.DepartmentofEducation(IPEDSCompletionSurvey)continuestoprovidehard evidencethattheneedforminorityfacultyisst2illpresent—anditshouldch0allengeallofustodomore, especiallystatelegislativeandeducationalleadership. eSREB-StateDoctoralScholarsProgramhelpsputminoritiesatthefrontofcollegeclassrooms.Reflecting itsmottoof“morethanacheckandahandshake,”theprogramprovidesmultiplelayersofsupport,prepara - tionandencouragementtoassistscholarsinearningtheirdoctoraldegreesandproceedingonthepathtoa successfulacademiccareer.
