Columbus took the season series last year (3-0-1). The Blue Jackets will play in New York on Jan. 19, host the Rangers on Valentine’s Day and play the final game of the season series at Madison Square Garden on Mar. 24. • The loss snapped a six-game point streak (5-0-1) as well as four-game home point streak (3-0-1) against the Rangers. • Tonight was a rare loss in a Thursday night home game for the Blue Jackets. It was just their second regulation loss in the last 17 Thursday home games dating back to Dec. 14, 2017 (14-2- 1). The club also fell to 22-5-1 in Thursday games overall dating back to Mar. 8, 2018. • It was the club’s league-leading 18th one-goal contest this season (9-5-4). • The Blue Jackets outshot the Rangers, 47-to-19 in the game. The 47 shots are the most recorded in a game this season, topping the 44 shots the Jackets had on Oct. 7 vs. Buffalo. • Columbus went 0-for-5 on the power play and 1-for-2 on the penalty kill in the match. • Tonight’s attendance was a crowd of 15,785. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ BLUE JACKETS PLAYER NOTES • D Seth Jones, who had seven shots on a team-high 24:16 TOI, scored Columbus’ second goal of the game early in the third period. He now has 3-3-6 in his last eight games this season. He also has 4-7-11 in his last 11 games vs. the Rangers. • RW Cam Atkinson scored the first goal of the game and now has 2-3-5 in his last eight games. He also has notched 3-3-6 in his last six contests vs. the Rangers. • LW Nick Foligno had the lone assist on Atkinson’s goal for his ninth helper of the season. He became the fourth player to record 300th career points in Blue Jackets history (129-171-300 in 514 games). • D Andrew Peeke registered a shot and three hits on 12:53 TOI while making his NHL debut tonight. • D Dean Kukan had the lone assist on Jones’ goal, giving him points in back-to-back games.
