FRIDAY, APRIL 3 – SATURDAY, APRIL 4 facebook.com/ AMCAlumniAssociation 4 | alumni.amc.edu PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE SAVE THE DATE 20 - Fellow Alumni: I AM PLEASED AND EXCITED TO SERVE AS THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE Alumni Association. I would like to thank Kevin Roberts, MD ’77 for his leadership the past two years. He has been an enthusiastic supporter of students, faculty, alumni, and Albany Med, and is the only Alumni Association president to serve as chief of the Albany Med medical staff. Nearly 300 gathered in Albany for Reunion in April for a weekend of festivities, lectures, and academic programs. I think you will enjoy event photos featured in this issue. As a third-generation Albany Med graduate, I respect and have benefited from the opportunity presented to me by family and the College. I have worked to share this legacy for the benefit of others. However, what I observed at Commencement in May was humbling and inspirational. Attention was given to first-generation 2019 college graduates, and a simple black and gold honor cord accented their gowns. No medical student has it easy, but these graduates represent an evolving Albany Med legacy of which we can be proud. During my tenure as president, I will focus on supporting the Dean, the College, the Alumni Association, and the Medical Center Foundation to enhance the College endowment. An increase in scholarships and reduction of student debt is a clear road to broadening the diversity that will benefit research, education and care. Your participation in these efforts makes a difference. We hope to hear from you and do not hesitate to reach out if I can be of assistance. Email: [email protected] I look forward to serving you.
