Manchester United : Could Robin van Persie Leave Old Trafford? Author : Robert D. Cobb MANCHESTER (UK) – According to media reports, Dutch talisman Robin van Persie is unhappy at Manchester United, could he be on his way out of Old Trafford? van Persie, who left long-time adversary, Arsenal, to join United for £24 million (£22.5 million, plus an extra £1.5 million if United wins either a EPL title or UEFA crown) is reportedly unhappy with new manager David Moyes and his training methods. Known to be both injury-prone and brittle during his tenure with the Gunners, the Dutch striker helped lead United to it’s 20th EPL crown, has all but replaced Wayne Rooney as top dog at Old Trafford. The former PFA Player Of The Year scored 28 goals in 40 appearances for the Red Devils his first year under Sir Alex Ferguson at United. While this is all mild speculation and unconfirmed, if van Persie is unhappy now, just imagine how he will be when he comes to discover that Moyes is no Ferguson and that United may be on their way down as a top club, thanks to rivals Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and the fore-mentioned Gunners making moves during the transfer period. While United would add former Everton midfielder Marouane Fellani and Penarol defender Guillermo Varela, Old Trafford is not the so-called “Theater Of Dreams” anymore thanks to a disgruntled Rooney wishing to move to Stamford Bridge, Ferguson gone and rival clubs closing the gap on them, could lend some credibility to van Persie’s alleged remarks about Moyes. The living legend/icon that brought him to Manchester is no longer there and with the ongoing Rooney- Chelsea saga behind the scenes, and van Persie may be beginning to see the proverbial writing on the wall that United’s long run atop the EPL may be coming to an end. Whether or not he could actually leave is another matter, as he is in the second year of a four-year deal and locked up thru 2016. Robert D.
