Press Release Alberta Ballet hosts guest company Travis Wall’s Shaping Sound, After The Curtain For Immediate Release Calgary AB – January 3, 2018 – Alberta Ballet is pleased to announce Travis Wall and his dance company Shaping Sound are back and ready to show off their sizzling piece of work, After The Curtain. After The Curtain is the second show for the eclectic dance company, conceived and choreographed by two-time Emmy Award- winner Travis Wall, and tells the story of a man fighting to find his creative voice after the death of his one true love. After The Curtain debuted in March of 2017 to fantastic reviews. Theater Jones in Dallas said, “It is overwhelmingly beautiful,” and The Los Angeles Times described it as “…a sinuous blend of athleticism, artistry and storytelling; sexy, soapy and spectacular.” The dance company Shaping Sound was established in Los Angeles in 2012 by Travis Wall and partners Nick Lazzarini, Teddy Forance and Kyle Robinson. The company is an evocative collaboration by diverse artists who describe themselves as ‘visual musicians,’ because their dance gives shape and form to sound. Travis Wall, Artistic Director, is the winner of the 2017 and 2015 Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography. He was the runner-up for So You Think You Can Dance Season Two, and is currently a resident choreographer for the national dance competition show. He is a seven-time Emmy nominated choreographer for his work on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and ‘Dancing with the Stars’. Travis Wall will dance the part of protagonist Vincent, and will be joined on stage by Lex Ishimoto, this year’s winner of FOX television’s So You Think You Can Dance. Lex returns to After The Curtain to perform the part of Jude, Vincent’s destructive alter-ego. Travis and Lex received great acclaim when they danced a combative number from After The Curtain on the So You Think You Can Dance season finale.
