It has been compiled from Parish magazines, The Derbyshire Community Directory and other sources. The Directory is alphabetic and covers Baslow, Curbar Calver and Froggatt, Great Longstone, Bakewell and District, Derbyshire. Bring old clothes, spades, forks and trowels, and perhaps a drink and a snack. Baslow Edge Playgroup Baslow Edge Playgroup opened in 1975. It operates from the Mrs L Cox Haddon Room in Cliff College Training and Conference Centre, 01433 631883 situated on the A623 between Calver and Baslow. The provision serves 2, 3 and 4 year olds from surrounding villages. A maximum of 26 children may attend the playgroup at any one time. The playgroup is open during term time only, Monday to Thursday from 08:30 to 15:00 and Friday from 08.30 till 13.00. Children attend for a variety of sessions. All children share access to a secure enclosed outdoor play area. During their time in the Pack, Cub Scouts will get a chance to try a wide range of different activities as well as going on trips, days out, and on camps. Participation rather than meeting set standards is the key approach, and there are a range of challenge awards and badges available that Cub Scouts can gain during their time in the section to recognise their achievements.
