SPEECH BY DR TEO HO PIN, MAYOR OF NORTH WEST DISTRICT AT CLUB-100 @ NORTH WEST DINNER 2015 ON TUESDAY, 26 MAY 2015, 7.00PM AT PARLIAMENT HOUSE Minister Khaw Boon Wan My parliamentary colleagues; Er. Dr Lee Bee Wah, Dr Lim Wee Kiak and Mr Ong Teng Koon Club-100 @ North West Members A very good evening to all of you Introduction 2 It gives me great pleasure to see so many of you this evening! Thank you for taking time off to attend the Club-100 @ North West Dinner 2015. 1 Club-100 @ North West 3 In 2008, we started Club-100 @ North West to promote a culture of philanthropy among Singaporeans for the more-able corporations and individuals to give back to the community. Through the efforts of our Club-100 @ North West members, we have helped more than 10,000 residents with food-based assistance over the years. I am heartened by the strong philanthropy spirit and the compassion within the community in assisting those in need. Recruitment of new members 4 This year, I have appointed four District Councillors and an existing Club-100 @ North West member to take on the role of expanding the Club-100 @ North West network. They are Chairman Mr Chandra Mohan, Vice-Chairman Mr Dennis Tan and members Dr Rachel Lim, Mr Robert Tay and Mr Evangelos Apostolou. 5 With their extensive corporate and social network, I’m pleased to announce that the Organising Committee has recruited 60 new donors. With this achievement, we now have 600 Club-100 @ 2 North West members contributing a minimum of $100 per month towards the North West Food Aid Fund. 6 I would like to thank Chairman Mr Chandra Mohan and the Organising Committee for expanding the Club-100 @ North West membership and offering invaluable advice in the organising of tonight’s event. Furthermore, Mr Chandra has also brought in Mr Francis Koh, MD and CEO of the Koh Brothers Group to graciously sponsor tonight’s dinner. I would like to once again thank Mr Chandra, the Organising Committee and Mr Francis Koh for contributing to Club-100 @ North West, and for the event tonight. Conclusion 7 On this note, I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to all of you, as our valued Club-100 @ North West members and I wish you an enjoyable evening at the Parliament House tonight.
