Friends of Jazz First, we thank all who braved the weather to hearChristian McBride’s Trio at the Sheraton . 5721 Jonestown Road Harrisburg/Hershey Ballroom on March 1st - we had 200 people in attendance - far less than we would Harrisburg PA 17112 have had if the weather had not been so forbidding. Jazz masterClark Terry , a frequent visitor to CPFJ events, died on February 21st. Clark was a great (Newsletter) entertainer as well as a great musician and was always thinking of ways to draw the audience into the Tonya Mowery music that he loved. Fifteen years ago or so, Marty Ashby invited me to play at the Manchester (Sectretary) Craftsman's Guild in Pittsburgh with an all-star group that included Clark Terry, Paquito D'Rivera, Robert Pugliese Louie Bellson, Rufus Reid, and Roger Humphries Sr. My wife, Andrea, and daughter, Katie, were in (Fund Raising) attendance for the three days, five shows gig. Clark found out that daughter Katie was having her Mark Swartzbaugh birthday that weekend and being the showman that he was, he made sure that she was in attendance for (Marketing) every show and brought her up in the middle of each set to have her sit on his lap and sing Happy Keith Thomas Birthday to her - five times! It was the most memorable birthday weekend of her young life and another (Vice President - & Concessions) example of a wise old pro making use of every opportunity to involve people emotionally with the music. Amy Walizer Clark was always a shining example of the consummate musician/entertainer/educator - sharing joy and (Treasurer) showing us the way....I will always remember his example and kindness. Tim Warfield . We congratulateKirk Reese on his recent trio CD,Impressions, featuring Steve Meashey & Jeff Stabley. (Music) . This wonderful recording amply demonstrates Kirk’s growth as a pianist and artist and we highly Youth Band Director: recommend you find a copy - it is available for download from iTunes or CDBaby and they will be Ron Waters available at CPFJ events at our concession tables. On Tues, 4/14 at 8pm, Kirk will give a Faculty Recital . at the High Center Recital Hall, Messiah College which is also the CD release event. Please join them The Vibe for a fantastic evening of music.
