Pros: - GPS Tracking - Excellent Global coverage Cons: - Cost - Size - No accelerometer data 5 1.2 Very-High Frequency (VHF) All the VHF Tag (Very-High Frequency) devices are active Radio Frequency Identity Transmitters, which means that they have their own power source (typically a battery). The VHF Collars, Implants and Tags provide a cost-effective and easy tracking solution with the aid of a small low-power transmitter. These devices transmit a pulse that can be located using a directional antenna over a range of a few hundred meters to several kilometers depending on terrain. These devices do not send or receive any data and are therefore only used for tracking purposes. Fitment options The fitment options are adaptable to a wide range of species, and can be used in the form of: - Collars - Implants (Abdominal, Horn or Tusk Implants) - Tags (Ear Tags, Harnesses, Fish Tags) Features 148MHz to 152MHz 2.2 Second Pulse Reed Switch Mortality Activity Other frequencies (triple pulse after 4 (triple pulse on on request hours of inactivity) activity) VHF Option 1 Yes Optional - - VHF Option 2 Yes Optional Yes - VHF Option 3 Yes Optional - Yes Data Collection Very-High Frequency tags require manual data collection using a Very-High Frequency Receiver. VHF VHF Tag HF Receiver 6 1.3 Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) UHF Tags (Ultra-High Frequency) provides secure real-time GPS animal tracking with the aid of a small low-power UHF Transceiver. These devices transmit a pulse that can be located over a range between a few hundred meters to several kilometers, depending on the terrain.
