Dr. Stuart Omans, chairman of the English Department, made the decision to close the lab when college­ wide budget cuts reduced the depart­ ment~s expense allocation. Omans said the lab was created to help students with fairly sophis­ ticated writing problems concerning paper organization, paragraph struc­ ture, and research techniques.
