Finally, the manager at the St Albans Arena has come back to the office and has secured 28th March 2021 for us. Sad news as it doesn’t look like we will be able to go ahead with any other event this year, including Stockport on Sunday 4th October. For those of you with tickets please see page 19 for more details on what to do next. Every Home Should Have One! We are delighted with our new merchandise product this month – it’s a really stunning cushion cover, the talk of the sofa printed with film quotes from some of your favourites on TPTV, many suggested by viewers. The perfect gift for any film lover! More details on page 14. There are also a few of our limited edition TPTV enamel lapel badges left, so get yours quick! We are busy restoring some fascinating pieces of Transport History at the moment, for next month’s new Transport Collection, perfect for fans of the Ford 8 or the Austin 7, or planes or boats and trains! Noel has uncovered some intriguing footage and we are busy cleaning them and transferring as I write. The transfer room has been as busy as ever and along with some unseen films and series from many archives this month, there are also a lot of new ‘glimpses’ and shorts, so do keep your eyes peeled for the TV listings. For a butcher’s at what’s on this month, read our news on pages 23 and 28-29, starting with Enemy at the Door, on Sunday 6th Sept at 9pm, a must for all those whose heart is in the Channel Islands. Also look out for The Punch & Judy Man with Tony Hancock, the film version of The Likely Lads, The Big Operator with Mickey Rooney, Steve McQueen in Never Love a Stranger, and Dick Emery in Ooh... You Are Awful! plus several more new series. Finally, we remember John Saxon who starred in The Night Caller; Julian Curry who played Claude Erskine-Browne in Rumpole of the Bailey and, of course, Dame Olivia de Havilland, who all recently passed away. It is so important to keep these stars on our screens for generations to come. Stay tuned folks and please, do keep on spreading the word, it’s been wonderful to see what a comfort we have been to so many in these difficult times; please do spread the word to neighbours, friends and any groups you belong to! It’s so very important, but particularly now.
