COATESVILLE AREA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 1445 East Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, PA 19320 11/12 Center - Phone (610) 383-3730 Michele Snyder, Principal Jeff Colf, Assistant Principal Linda Giles, Interim Assistant Principal Matthew McCain, Director of Activities, Athletics, and Compliance April 8, 2019 Good Morning Parents and Guardians, The CASH is beginning another action-packed week. It is tech week for the cast and crew of “Willy Wonka”. They are gearing up performances on both Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13. Tickets are available on line. Please come out and support this wonderful production. In addition, our spring sports teams are in full swing, thankfully, the weather has been cooperating for our teams. Our music classes are rehearsing and putting the finishing touches on their rehearsals in preparation for the upcoming Spring Concert Series which will begin in May. The last marking period is always a busy time. Last week I had the opportunity to visit Mr. Tassoni’s AP US Government class. Students are preparing for upcoming AP exams which begin in May. In this class, students need to write summaries about 15 groundbreaking Supreme Court decisions, cases such as Marbury v. Madison and Brown v. Board of Education. During my time in the classroom, students were working on creating Mnemonic devices to help them to learn the important facts of the case. Students worked together to discuss the key points and to look for patterns to help them remember the key themes. They then worked on multiple choice section of the test, by using released items from past AP exams to test their speed and accuracy in answering. College Board administers Advanced Placement exams nationwide beginning in the month of May. Students in all AP classes are preparing for the upcoming tests. Any student who scores three or better can transfer that course for college credit. Allowing families to save money on college expense. Best of luck to all who are scheduled to take the exams. Mid Atlantic Percussion Society (MAPS) Championships was held at the Intermediate High School with 28 Drumline Percussion Groups competing for the Championships. Schools from Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey competed. Also performing were two Independent groups, Imperial Dynasty from Wilmington, DE and United Percussion and Arts from Vorhees, NJ. Our very own CASH drumline performed in this annual event. Thank you to all the members of the community and parents who helped to make this event possible. With band and spectators, the place was filled with approximately 1500 people, what a great way to show our Red Raider Pride.
