Box 71, Huntington,Vermont 05462 ABSTRACT. Bunchosia quaesitor has inflorescencesterminating main axes, a characteristicunique to this endemic to southwesternHaiti. Bunchosia pauciflora fromnorthern Haiti was confused by Niedenzu with B. haitiensisUrban & Niedenzu, but B. haitiensisis two-carpellatewith a glabrous oyaryand connate styles, and B. pauciflorais three-carpellatewith a pilose ovary and distinctstyles. Bunchosia articulata, endemic to Cuba, is distinguished from its closest relative, B. swartziana Griseb.,by its petals with glandular limb margins, basally articulatedpeduncles, and elliptic leaf blades. Bunchosia macilenta, fromBahia, Brazil, can be divorcedfrom Bunchosia acuminata, another new species fromthe same region, by its smaller, more meagre inflorescenceswith fewer flowers and smaller leaves with 4-6 abaxial glands. Bunchosia systyla (Niedenzu) Dobson was originally described as a formof B. fluminensis(Griseb.) Griseb. but is given species status here.
