THE PROGRAM Learn by Doing – Hands-on, Real Experience ● State-of-the art labs ● Industry standard equipment ● Extensive laboratory skills ● Experiential learning trips ● Classes taught by Alamance Community College instructors ● Receive high school and college credit for completed courses ● Completed coursework with a C or better is guaranteed to transfer to the 16 public universities in North Carolina Experiential Learning ACC lab Manufacturing Tour NCCU Brite The Classes ❏ BTC 181 – Basic Laboratory Techniques ❏ CHEM 131/131 A – Chemistry ❏ BIO 111 – General Biology I ❏ BIO 175 – Microbiology ● Includes: lab coat, goggles, cost of tuition and fees ● Location: Graham High School ● 1:40 to 3:20 ● Transportation provided Basic Lab Techniques Chemistry Microbiology Biology BTC 181 - Basic Laboratory Techniques Basic skills and knowledge necessary in a biological or chemical laboratory. Emphasis is placed on good manufacturing practices, safety, solution preparation, and equipment operation and maintenance following standard operating procedures. CHEM 131 - Chemistry Fundamental concepts of inorganic chemistry. Topics include measurement, matter and energy, atomic and molecular structure, nuclear chemistry, stoichiometry, chemical formulas and reactions, chemical bonding, gas laws, solutions, and acids and bases. BIO 111 - Biology Explore the principles and concepts of biology. Emphasis is placed on basic biological chemistry, cell structure and function, metabolism and energy transformation, genetics, evolution, classification, and other related topics.
