Being on a pilgri a e m 1 903 l i . h to Great Bro le y in , I called at Ard e gh on M r Grubbe in searc ' ’ “ of A rdleigh Parish Records and Walter Stone s te nemen t called ITa lles 1 50 6. w a s n n e in the Ardleigh of M r Grubbe then i dexi g the old r cords , a nd readily promised to send me a ll the S tone entries he could find . ( The w w m m S to es ere incl uded at y request , beca use the na es looked so very much alike in the old w riting . ) No t only did M r . Grubbe prom ptly se nd th e n m w m Vital Records ( refusi g reco p ense) , but hen ore than a year later , in copying th e M anor Rolls ( a work du e to his interest in preservi ng local ” wh h e m a m n records) , en there ca e cross several entions of early Sto es , “ he remembered our i nterest a nd se n t me the careful Notes abou t the ” n m family of S ton e here pri nted . In later correspo dence ca e the notes ’ ” a bout Barro ns and on M r . l . E . S tone s English Ancestry . t n w l 1 90 6 m e e a s n . I again in E gland , in Ju y , , M r Grubbe took to the m u a nd . wh o e s pposed site of Barrons to see Rev M r Cope , gave the m Little Bromley data .
