The Royal Australian Engineer (RAE) Corp World War 1 to present Hosted by Gold Coast Regional Group RAEs role in various theatres since the end of World War 1 Presented day By Patrick Kidd, CPEng, RAE Corp The presentation will give a brief overview of the RAEs role in various theatres since the end of World War 1 to the present day. The RAE has had substantial involvement in virtually all theatres of conflict, peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance, development work and infrastructure works undertaken within Australia that have involved the Australian Army, since the end of World War 1. Through a series of pictures and some background briefing a synopsis of these operations and works will be provided to assist the audience in understanding the types of tasks the RAE corp has undertaken over the last 100 years. About the Speaker Patrick Kidd is currently working as the Geotechnics Manager SMEC Gold Coast office. He has over 20 years' experience in geotechnical engineering and engineering geology. Patrick is also a long term serving member of the Royal Australian Engineers. He has served in the Army Reserve for over 20 years and performed virtually every job at soldier and non- commissioned officer level, within a combat engineer squadron up to and including the Squadron Sergeant Major. Over his army career Patrick has been deployed to East Timor and locally on Operation Flood Assist. He has also deployed as a post disaster recovery specialist for Aus Aid/Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade four times, generally working closely on these operations with Australian Defence Force and other Australian Government personnel. .
