The Mayor Making and Citizen of Honour awards ceremony, at Ferneham Hall, was a huge success. The Mayor has announced her chosen charities as The Rainbow Centre for Adult Rehabilitation, the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, and Tradissar RDA (Riding for the Disabled). The Rainbow Centre’s aim is to improve the quality of life for people with Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, stroke, head injury, cerebral palsy and their families through conductive education. The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity represents all those who are serving and have served along with their families. The charity makes grants with a broad reach, supporting not only military charities which provide help in times of need, but also grants to help those who serve today. Tradissar RDA (Riding for the Disabled) Group provides lessons for both mentally and physically disabled children and adults. In addition to the opportunity to learn to ride or expand upon current skills, they offer the chance to learn to ride side saddle. The new Mayor's Cadet has been appointed for 2013/14 – 17 year old leading Cadet, Kirsty-Nicolle Wright. Kirsty joined Warsash Sea Cadets in 2010 and has worked hard to gain many new skills and qualifications. I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to Kirsty and to this year’s Citizens of Honour; Ken Charman and Marjorie Wise, and Young Citizen of the Year, David Hawkins for their outstanding voluntary contributions to the community. We received over 5,000 votes to name the new community and Welborne was declared the winner – so thank you to everyone who took part. And finally, I sincerely welcome all comments and suggestions on how you would like to improve the Borough. In fact we have recently started a programme of reviews throughout the Council looking at how we deliver our services through the eyes of our customers. We hope that this will further improve your experience when dealing with us. So please do let me know your thoughts and ideas, which I am always keen to hear.
