NSQG Until We Meet Again Challenge Week 1: Beatles' Songs

NSQG Until We Meet Again Challenge Week 1: Beatles’ Songs Joyce Drenth I selected “Old Brown Shoe” and looked up the lyrics. “Now I’m stepping out this old brown shoe”. I received a gift of a brown tie-dyed wool a couple years ago and never determined a good use for it. By fussy-cutting, I think the shoe reflects wear and is perfect for a bouquet of fall flowers. I also played with making chenille strips cut with pinking shears for some of the leaves. It’s fun to say ‘What Would Happen If?’ when playing with fabric. I used Terial Magic on the 2 flower materials before cutting them out. I didn’t like the flat flowers afterward so, WWHI came into play again. I ran a gathering stitch through the base of each petal and drew it up, popped on a fused wool center and anchored them to the quilt with colonial knots. Grass is a fringed piece of wool and the bee has 4 layers each of two different colors of tulle fused together for wings. It was fun experimenting these past two weeks. Love the outcome! Laurie Golden Yellow Submarine Flo London My challenge was inspired by the Beatles song A Taste of Honey from the Please Please Me album which was released in 1963. Karen Venson I was debating what to do for this quilt. I started searching Beatles images and the album cover of Help called me :) Can’t wait to see the others from guild members Janice Hedberg My Beatles song is “Strawberry Fields Forever.” I know the song has nothing to do with strawberries but it reminded me of the “you pick” strawberry field close by. This project has been fun as the whole family has listened to Beatles music and contributed ideas. Jo DIck I did it! My Beatle theme They Say It's Your Birthday. This is 10" x 9". The inspiration is that, Both my sister-in-law and I share the same birthdate - June 15th. This is the one day a year I can say, it's my birthday to YAH!! Can't wait to get started on my next one. Karen Snell Here Comes the Sun Hoping for Sunnier Days to come. Cindy Olsen May I introduce you to COVID Kraken? Based on the song title "The Sea of Monsters" from the Yellow Submarine album. It's instrumental, so as a flautist and member of bands and orchestras, it really spoke to me, and the music includes the turbulence of our times. Join us for our next challenge The theme will be Bucket List Due June 30th 6:00pm.
