Client Swaziland Government Value $54,000,000 Duty Project Architect Michel Francis Chief Architect Architecture Projects 18-Story Commercial Building located at Mohammad Bin Zaed City Sector - Z/29/C-127, Abu Dhabi, UAE This is a mixed use building, with a Retail Street two-level Podium and arcades, a resi- dential tower and 3 base- ments parking. The elegant arcades will pro- mote social activities with out- door seating extending the interior of restaurants and cafes of the ground floor. This will greatly contribute to the friendly neighborhood atmos- phere intended in the Retail Streets. A lively shopping en- vironment will be brought out by the two commercial floors, in contrast with the more peaceful typical residential floors, whose wavy shape reminds of a slight ripple of breeze. The beckoning of the main entrance canopy enhances the visibility of the main lobby entrance. Every effort was made to re- duce the energy footprint by studying the shell to minimize load demand. The building Includes 3 Parking Basements, Services, 2 Podium Floors Comprising Coffee Shops, Res- taurants & Shops, 14 Typical Floors of Various Residential Flats (1br, 2br, 3br) Gym, service Roof floor. Client ADCP Value $18,000,000 Duty Lead Architect, Project Manager Michel Francis Chief Architect Architecture Projects 21-story Residential Building type TH2-15 ; located at Mohammed Bin Zayed City – Sector ME-8/C-24, Abu Dhabi, UAE (2008) The volumetric study draws from the modern architectural style characterized by the use of simple rectilinear and pla- nar forms. The style inteds for simplicity, modernity and sus- tainability. The use of horizontal elements overlapping the vertical larg- er volumes marks the building as a residential tower. The use of simple materials for the façade like aluminum cladding, epoxy paint and glass gives it a simple and ap- pealing look. Materials sustainability, water efficiency, energy saving and healthy living are at the heart of the design. The types of flats considered takes into consideration the potential tenant composition. 3 levels of underground parking, a 2 story Town House podium, 15 typical floors apartment Tower above, and 2 services floors; with Total of 84 Dwellings, 103 Parking bays provided, and a total area of 21,000 sq.m. Project design approved by PMC KEO. Client ADCP Value $19,000,000 Duty Lead Architect, Project Manager Michel Francis Chief Architect Architecture Projects 14-story Residential Building; located Al Rawda Development, Abu Dhabi, UAE 1 Pearl Project rating the objective was to design warmer, tactile and more modu- lated architectural in order to create the feeling of home and belonging within the large scale development, the charecter is very residential in nature through the use of building materials, ex- terior details, shaped surfaces and small openings. The main concept is to create a dynamic facade for the residen- tial building by adding random- ly oriented balconies to diversify the views and rhythm of the fa- çade, while also breaking down the scale and proportion of the building. considering the gulf climate bal- conies were covered with com- posite panels with wood exterior finish to create shade and priva- cy to the residential units. The major objective of the pro- ject was to provide occupants with a healthy environment by following the minimum requier- ments of Estidama Rating system (1 pearl cetification). 3 levels of underground parking, a 1 story podium, 9 typical floors apartment Tower above, leisure floor, and 1 service floor; with Total of 70 Dwellings, 81 Parking bays provided, and a total area of 14,000 sq.m. Project design approved by REEM Developers. I was the lead design architect and the LEED Constultant in addition to specilized environmental consult- ing and design such as the acoustic design.
