OXFAM AGENDA III: Weekly WASH Cluster Partner Updates Updates/ WSSDO discussions – Supplied 145 temporary latrines received from DWSS. – Provided materials for repair and maintenance of 46 water schemes out of 48. – Collected additional data of 330 damaged water systems but doesn’t have the capacity to provide all with necessary materials for the repair. – Planning to continue the repair and maintenance of water supply schemes. UN-Habitat – Have a long term plan to campaign for ODF staring on the 1st week of July in 37 VDCs & 1 Meeting Minutes Nuwakot WASH Cluster Meeting June 28, 2015 Municipality (Bidur) in coordination with Suryadaya Samajik Club, DECON Nepal, NRCS, STAR Nepal. Caritas Nepal – Distributed wash kits in Barsumchet VDC to 133 HH. – Plan to distribute 400 wash kits in 2 VDCs Gerkhu and Duipipal UNOCHA – Just arrived and will be working for an information management and cluster coordination of the whole district. ENPHO – Working in 4 VDCs. Thanapati, Chaturale, Ganesthan and Sunkhani – Completed Emergency Rapid WASH assessment, total larine damage and water schemes. – Distributed Hygiene kits in Thanapati and Chaturale 250 in each VDCs. – Completed bacteriological water test for 30 water samples from working VDCs. – Planning to: 1. Start Hygiene promotion in the latest of this week. 2. Construct 300 latrines in Ganesthan and Sunkhani VDCs next month. 3. WASH in school next month. 4. Rehabilitate 10 water supply schemes in 2 VDCs Sunkhani and Ganesthan. Save the Children – Supporting 50 TLC on WASH needs. – Assessments on need for toilets and water supply are ongoing. – Planning to: 1. Support 50 latrines in school of program VDCs nextweek. 2. Provide semi structure toilet and drinking water system management in school and health post. 3. Distribute hygiene kits to 450HH in Dangsing, 450HH in Gorsyang, 550HH in Taruka and 350HH in Kumari in coordination with NRCS. ACF – Activities ongoing in three VDCs (Suryamati, Kabilas and Chaughoda) – Water quality assessments completed on the covered VDCs. – Finished the water schemes repair in a Chakrawati school of Chaugadha VDC. – Assessment on need for latrines completed and identified 1200 beneficiaries for the program so has plan to provide latrine pan and cement to each of the identified HH. – Planning to: 1. Provide 2 more latrines in the IDP Camp (Betrawathi 2) by the end of the week. 2. Purchased laboratory supplier and kept a proposal for unified laboratory for water test with ENPHO & Mercy Corps. Samaritans Purse – Verified 3 out of 16 schools for the construction of latrines & handwashing stations on the 9 VDCs. 18 completed latrines & 4 handwashing stations. Thirteen more schools to verify. – Started the delivery of materials to one school for the Water System Installation with sawyer filters to the 16 schools. – Coordinated with CCCM (Camp Coordination & Camp Management) and forwarded the data on the assessment conducted in the 4 IDP Camps identified here in Bidur. – Planning this week to: 1. Complete the above mentioned activities for all 16 schools. 2. Conduct hygiene promotion and hygiene kits distribution to the pupils in the 16 schools. MSF – Planning to work on water supply, sanitation and hygiene in Trishuli Hospital. But as per DE Meeting Minutes Nuwakot WASH Cluster Meeting June 28, 2015 advice, look for other institution coz Archenova is now working there for WASH concerns. Archenova – Continuing the repair tap stands & pipelines in Gerkhu. NRCS/ Spanish Red Cross – Constructed 56 latrines and 16 water drinking action. – Distributed 2 tanks of capacity 3000L, 97 hygiene kits, 247 soaps, 50 Jerry cans, 224 water filter. – Conducted a hygiene promotion to an estimated total number of 527 individual. – Fifteen Latrine clearing fields done. – Identified 5 places for latrine construction. – Planning to: 1. Continue hygiene promotion activities. 2. Monitoring latrines activities are going on. 3. Distribute more jerry cans and hygiene kits. 4. Implement WASH in Schools. Community Forest Foundation Center – Planning to support in repair and maintenance of water system in Belkot ward-1,Madanpur ward-8,Kakani ward-1 and Jilling ward-1. Hence, advice to coordinate with the focal point Agency working in the area. ACDC/ SUAAHARA – Provided 36 flash board to each ward of Okharpauwa, Chahuthe and Kakani VDCs with key messages of WASH. – Completed the assessment on the following VDCs: 1. Chauthe, 865 HH with functional latrines and 51 HH latrines needs to be reconstructed. 2. Kharpauwa, 1075 HH with functional latrines and 700 HH latrines needs to be reconstructed. - Plan to set Hoarding board in Bidur Municipality. AGENDA IV Dashboard Review Updates/ - There were some concerns with regards to the numbers presented aligned to the Agency discussions working in some VDCs. Advised them to update their 4W report and send it to the Cluster IMO: Dominik Koepple ([email protected]) or call at 9802039596 for more information/ comments/ concerns. AGENDA V Review of Gaps in the Remote Areas & Focal Points. Updates/ discussions - Presented the data provided by the WASH Cluster IMO and Siddhi Shrestha from UNICEF after his conversation with DE regarding the uncovered and remote VDCs (to implement WASH programs & be the focal agency),compared then clear up the gap by agreeing on who is doing where with the agencies involve. (Please check the table below). - SP, Caritas Nepal & Save the children want’s to focus/ give priority more on the VDCs that they are covering since then and possibly expand whenever their WASH projects is done. - SUAAHARA agreed to cover the 7 VDCs stated below for WASH and be the Focal Agency. SUNDRADEVI - Accdg. to Siddhi Shrestha from UNICEFsaying after his conversation with the DE on the 9th day of June, “DECON (Deimos Engineering Consultancy) was selected to work with UNICEF on Sanitation and hygiene promotion in the following VDC/ Municipality wherein no agency working. “ 1. Bungtang 2. Barsunchet 3. Kharanitar 4. Ralukadevi 5. Bidur Municipality- 1,2,6,8,9 (40% of HH) - No representative from the DECON is present to answer and clear the issue. Recommends that a DECON representative should attend on the next WASH Cluster meetings. - The WASH Cluster discussed VDCs with duplicate VDC Focal Point Agency and VDCs with no VDC Focal Point Agency including hard to reach VDCs. The complete list of updated Focal Point Agencies for Nuwakot can be found below. AGENDA VI Contingency Plan (WSSDO, ACF & OXFAM) Updates/ discussions - DE has no plan of making a contingency due to his busy schedule & other commitments. Hence, he referred us to DRRC- not in the meeting. - OXFAM representative is not around also. - Accdg. to Mark from ACF, OXFAM initiated circulating the spreadsheet on WASH Contingency stocks that per agencies should provide to present or see the additional needs with national level if there is gaps. Still waiting for a new development. - National WASH Cluster support is recommended.
