Kevin Rudd AC Former Prime Minister of Australia Kevin Rudd served as Australia's 26th Prime Minister (2007-10, 2013) and as Foreign Minister (2010-12). In office, Mr Rudd led the Australia's response to the Global Financial Crisis, reviewed as the most effective policy in the developed world. Australia was the only developed country to avoid recession. His government also ratified the Kyoto Protocol, apologised to Indigenous Australians, implemented a mandatory renewable energy target, delivered the national school curriculum, negotiated major reform of the health system, introduced national paid parental leave and pursued the world's first plain- packaging regime for tobacco. Internationally, Mr Rudd co-founded the G20 Summit, drove the expansion of the East Asia Summit and steered Australia's successful UN Security Council bid. Since 2015, Mr Rudd has been president of the Asia Society Policy Institute, a 'think-and-do tank' based in New York. He chairs Sanitation and Water For All, chairs the International Peace Institute and co-chairs the National Apology Foundation. He is also a Director of Ramsay Health Care, Vodafone Group and Xero (moving into the role of Xero Chair on 1 February 2020). Mr Thodey was formerly Chief Executive Officer of Telstra, and before joining Telstra, Chief Executive Officer of IBM (ANZ). Mr Thodey is currently Chair of an eminent Panel appointed by the NSW Government to lead an independent review of Federal Financial Relations. speaker Terry Moran AC Chair, Centre for Policy Development Terry spent his early career as a public servant in the Australian (Commonwealth) and Victorian Public Services. Moran's first position as a public sector CEO was as Chief Executive of the Office of the State Training Board in Victoria from late 1987 until May 1993. In May 1993 he was appointed as the first Chief Executive Officer of the Australian National Training Authority in Brisbane. In August 1998 he became Queensland's Director-General of Education. Moran was appointed Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet for the State of Victoria in July 2000 and held this position until his appointment as Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. Moran was the Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet from March 2008 to September 2011, the most senior position in the Australian Public Service. He was appointed by former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, and continued in the position under Rudd's successor Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
