Just a quick note to thank all those who attended our September general meeting. Although it ran a little longer than we intended, there were lots of great updates and presentations on public safety, the Bainbridge development, Transform Baltimore, and Digital Harbor High School project RELATE, as well as several ongoing neighborhood endeavors. I hope you can make the October 11th public meeting (p3) at the Science Center, where DOT will present the long-awaited plans and timeline for the renovation of the Key Highway/Light Street intersection. The Mayor’s Annual Fall Cleanup is Saturday, October 28th Neighborhood favorite Walt Saxon will be manning the dumpster at the corner of William and Warren from 9-12pm. Claire Wayner, Baltimore Beyond Plastic Want to see Styrofoam pollution out of our waterways, Inner Harbor, and streets? The time is now -- there is now a foam ban bill that has been introduced by Councilman John Bullock into City Hall. The bill would prohibit the use of primarily foam containers in all food sale locations. Foam is a pervasive pollutant and also has been shown to leach carcinogenic chemicals into hot food when used for food packaging. Much of Baltimore’s foam trash 554 E Fort Avenue is incinerated in South Baltimore, releasing these chemicals into the local atmosphere.
