Rock outcrops, deep cool gorges, and waterfalls are found throughout the area. The drives will be through the best roads around and the hikes will be on easy trails, hand-picked by a member who lives and drives there every day. We’ll spend plenty of time in the cars to satisfy the driving enthusiast in each of us, and have a chance to stretch our legs as we breath the pine-scented air while walking through hemlock groves to marvel at cascading waterfalls, breathtaking cliffs, deep recess caves and forestland as far as the eye can see. Bring a pair of shoes for driving and a pair of sturdy shoes for the hike. A mat or garbage bag for the hiking shoes is a good idea as the trails may be wet, but not muddy, in the spring. We will finish up with a fantastic dinner at one of the local res- taurants. 5 Drive and Hike Itinerary: 10:00am Columbus area members meet in Frisch’s Big Boy parking lot 3920 S Hamilton Rd Grove City, OH 43125 10:30am Porsche caravan Departs for hocking hills 11:30am Meet at Chieftan Elementary School 28296 Chieftan Dr Logan, OH 12:00pm-4:30pm Drive and Hike! 4:30pm Happy Hour and Dinner at Rocky Boots Afterward, head home or stay in one of the many quaint and cozy accommodations that can be found throughout the area. Bulbs are forcing their way up, hearty buds are emerging and Porsches are begging to be driven. By the time you read this the season opening 24 hours of Daytona occurred 60 days ago. While we might just see another snowfall before spring, it’s time for us Midwesterners to wake up and get ready. This year we are going to have it pretty good. As most of the ardent readers know, I began my autocross diatribes last year in hopes of increasing the participation at the events. This year the club has an- swered with 4 local autocrosses. That’s right, you can actually autocross 4 times this year without you or the Porsche getting more than a mile or so outside the beltway. Due to some scheduling changes MOR has been lucky enough to host two of the IRAC series events this year. For those of you that are not familiar with IRAC, it stands for the Inter Regional Autocross Champion- ship. Basically, you can accumulate points at each IRAC event scheduled by Porsche clubs throughout Ohio and at the end of the season they announce the standings for each class. You can also run in IRAC events even if you have no interest in accumulating points. It is open to everyone just like a non-IRAC event would be. What’s more, there are two non-IRAC events this year too. One is held at Westerville High School and the other is going to be held at Columbus Motor Speedway. This will be our second Westerville HS autocross and the event last year was a great one. The Columbus Motor Speedway event will be our first there and it should be the one to bring all of your family and friends as there will be grandstand seating for all.
