The Provincial (NWFP, now KP) Government promulgated its ordinance in March 1993. Over the past 25 years, GIK has established itself as one of the leading instuons of higher learning and has consistently been ranked as the number one private-sector engineering university in Pakistan by the Higher Educaon Commission (HEC). The credit for this goes to the Instute's Founding Fathers and all those who have succeeded them year aer year. We are also grateful to our Board of Governors, for their support and advice in helping GIK stand out as a pioneering school of engineering and technology. Growth in the enrollment of students at GIK has been consistent since 2000, and the year 2018-2019 was no excepon. The rising number of students means the Instute must provide adequate infra-structure for its faculty, staff and students, and maintain an appropriate student to teacher rao, all while maintaining high standards of educaon and research. In 2018-19 construcon of new academic and residenal facilies was iniated to cater to the growing demand of the self-contained campus. The establishment of GIK's Incubaon Centre, the Catalyst, was also completed in 2018, adding value to the Instute as an innovaon hub. To impart quality educaon to our students, GIK has always recruited top academicians as course instructors – about 76 percent of our faculty members have degrees from highly reputable universies from across the world. The recruitment of accomplished professionals, however, is only one integral element that defines GIK's reputaon. Our management gives crical importance to ensuring programs of study are designed to encourage outcome based and lifelong learning. One recent example of GIK producing influenal leaders is that of Mr. Usman Iikhar, who was awarded the Commonwealth Young Person of the Year Award. The Instute connues to monitor the efficacy of her programs by making improvements to its Outcome Based Educaon (OBE) Assessment System. The Instute has been collaborang with local and internaonal universies, notably from Turkey, China, South Africa and the USA, to expand the scope of research produced by the Instute, facilitate exchange programs and establish new lab facilies. Huawei established its “Huawei Authorized Informaon and Network Academy” (HAINA) on campus. The GIK admissions process is enrely based on merit. Although a not-for-profit instuon, the Instute grants scholarships or financial assistance to about one-third of its new intake, both from its resources and with the help of many philanthropists, partners, alumni, companies and Federal and Provincial governments - we are thankful to them all for their financial contribuons. The Instute itself dedicated 77 million rupees for its undergraduate programs and 127 million rupees for its postgraduate programs in 2018-19. I want to acknowledge the hard work and dedicaon of our outstanding faculty, and all other employees, because of whom the Instute has been able to sustain its exceponal reputaon. Engr. Jehangir Bashar 5 Message from the Pro-Rector (Academics) GIK is an instute which is a growing hub for excellence in the field of engineering, sciences, and technology. It is commied to encouraging the latest in innovave methods for engaging with the field of engineering and incorporang it into the lives of her students, parcularly in today's age of budding technology. For the past 25 years, the mission of the GIK Instute has been to deliver quality educaon to young minds and develop leaders with the skills necessary to respond to socio-economic and engineering challenges. The degree programs and courses that we offer are at par with the best universies around the world, parcularly those hailing from Washington Accord (WA) signatory countries. Our terminal system of educaon not only ensures a well-planned schedule but rounded educaon that engineers working in the challenging world of today will find pernent to diverse, muldisciplinary working environments. It also embellishes the exquisiteness of the OBE (Outcome Based Educaon) system. GIK is ranked number 24thout of 453 universies across the world (top posion among all Pakistani universies) on Quality Educaon by Times Higher Educaon (THE) under the University Impact Ranking in Relaon to UN Sustainable Development Goals. Quality Educaon is one of the 17thSustainable Development Goals (SD's) of the United Naons (UN). This SDG ensures inclusive and equitable quality educaon and promotes lifelong learning opportunies for all. The ranking awarded to GIK was done so aer carrying out a mulvariate analysis pernent to GIK's strength and ability in providing quality educaon. The Times Higher Educaon evaluated the University's commitment to inclusive educaon and focus on lifelong learning opportunies to people who are not directly members of the GIK community. Addionally, keeping the status of Pakistan as a country with a great need for a workforce of trained and highly educated professionals, the GIK Instute aims to give equal opportunity to all who would seek to knock at the doors of enlightenment. This is in line with a recent report by the World Bank and Elsevier (South Asia: Challenges and benefits of research collaboraon in a diverse region) and the UN's target to encourage more students to enroll in technical,
