As you might have read in the Mid-Year Newsletter I visited England and jersey and found almost electric enthusiasm for the Society. I had a chance to speak to them ofthe prospects for the future. I detect a new awakening in the appreciation ofour older camellia varieties in many ofour Regions. This fits in nicely with the up-coming publishing of the Check List of Camellias. I look at the increase in membership in countries such as Germany and South Africa and the formation of new Regional efforts such as the French in the Brittany section ofFrance as evidence ofthis new interest. In a recent conversation with Thm Savige I learned that he has finished the alphabet and is completing the biblio will probably need outside help to ac graphy and other headings. Thm has had complish our publishing goal. The Long extensive cooperation ofmany ofour ex wood Foundation which has already con perts in all Regions. He will shortly send tributed much to our work has indicated to us his choices of a committee to help that they would probably help when the him in the publishing and distribution viable project is presented to them. It has been a big challenge and I hope that I measure up to it in some way. I could not have done this without the cooperation of the camellia friends all over the world. Thanks to all who have contributed to this issue. Special thanks to all. Let's start thinking about the next issue and please start sending me articles as you think of them or see interesting things in the camellia world.
